New Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim Hints at Potential First Transfer
New Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim, who officially began his duties at Carrington this week after leaving Sporting Lisbon while they were top of Liga Portugal, has dropped a significant hint about his first potential transfer at Old Trafford.

While much of the speculation has focused on Viktor Gyokeres filling United's goal-scoring void, Amorim has highlighted another Sporting star in his final pre-match press conference. The Reds have been previously linked with winger Pedro Goncalves (Pote), who has notched up four goals and three assists in eight league games this season. According to Amorim, Goncalves is capable of playing for any team in the world.

In his final pre-match press conference at Sporting, Amorim told Record, "Pote? He can play for any team in the world and with any player because he is a great player. I could take him anywhere. He's very funny, which improves our relationship, but he is also very intelligent. However, he also has to focus on Sporting because we have to be champions this year. But as a Sporting coach, I say he could play for any team in the world."

With a reported asking price of £67 million, Goncalves is seen as a potential target for United next summer, despite Amorim ruling out a January move for Sporting players. As per MailOnline, Goncalves could become a realistic target for United during the summer transfer window.

Amorim addressed future transfers, saying, "I won't sign Sporting players in January, that's what I said. I don't know about the summer. The first point is to hold on until the summer. Sporting players are very good players, I don't know, we'll see. I know the phenomenon of football—especially in England—and I know how things change. I can talk about [Mikel] Arteta, [Ange] Postecoglou, how things went well, how they went badly. What will dictate is how the first game goes, with a win or not. Then we'll see."
