Milan Star Forward Understands Fans Frustration: “We Must Respect Their Feelings”
Milan
center-forward Alvaro Morata understands fans’ rage after Liverpool brushed the Rossoneri aside on Tuesday evening. Paulo Fonseca’s side threw away an early lead in a disheartening 3-1 defeat at the start of the 2024/25 Champions League season.

As if an abysmal Serie A start wasn’t concerning enough, Milan translated their below-par domestic form to the grandest continental stage. Tired of seeing their heroes perform below expectations and without a fighting mentality, the San Siro supporters booed Fonseca’s charges off the field.
It was another heartless display for Milan at the beginning of Fonseca’s catastrophic tenure. Morata, who swapped Atletico Madrid for Italy in the summer, refuses to argue with the club faithful despite finding himself on the receiving end of harsh insults from the stands at the final whistle.
“We have to respect what the fans say because they pay to attend the games and it is our job to play. However, we cannot hurt ourselves too much, because we have another very important match coming up this weekend,” the Milan striker said, as reported by Gianluca Di Marzio.
Milan cannot afford to dwell on the past as they must prepare for another blockbuster fixture. Fonseca’s side will square off against arch-rivals Inter on Sunday, and Morata has urged his teammates to ‘keep going’ ahead of this ‘fundamental’ match.
“It is not a problem caused by attitude or tactics, football is just like this. We conceded two goals from set plays, we could’ve scored from those situations instead. We have training tomorrow morning, another fundamental match this weekend and we have to keep going,” the Milan star concluded.
