Armando Broja's Chelsea future explained after Ipswich Town transfer collapse
Chelsea striker Armando Broja is likely to stay at the club beyond the summer transfer window after his move to Ipswich Town collapsed, football.london understands.
Broja was on the verge of moving to the Premier League newcomers last week but complications arose from his medical tests that threatened the deal to collapse. The loan move included a £30million obligation to buy if the Tractor Boys stayed up.
Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna admitted that the striker was someone they were keen on and he refused to close the door on a transfer. However, it's now understood that the 22-year-old will not leave the Blues before tomorrow's deadline.
An achilles injury that showed during his medical at Ipswich is proving to be a problem and he is set for a period out of action to undergo rehab. However, it's understood that a move could happen if an interested club shows willingness to overlook the injury.
Broja missed over nine months between December 2022 and October 2023 after suffering a damaging knee injury. His minutes have been limited since then and it's now another problem that has put his career on hold.
Chelsea could put Broja further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge if they manage to complete a blockbuster move for Victor Osimhen. The Napoli star is yet to play in Serie A this season and looks destined to leave.
